Cat's Birthday HP Drabblethon 5: Epilogue... yes, all is well.
Cat's Birthday HP Drabblethon 5 was made of win. THANK YOU so much to all involved, writers (and artist) and readers! :D :D :D

Thanks to [info]bethbethbeth and everyone else who pimped this thing in their journals and encouraged new people to come and drabble for the kitties. Thanks to the prolific reviewers - especially [info]bonfoi, who commented on everything (and, in a nice bit of karma, received three responses to that "Snupin adopting a cat" prompt). Thanks to [info]moreteadk for squeeing madly and staying up late two nights in a row and posting drabble-recs.

All prompts now done. Some more than once, thanks to enthusiastic pinch-hitters.
I've updated the links on the big list, so you can just click on the done! next to each prompt. There were 123 participants, and we only lost seven along the way (a few turned up late). The final count is 132 creative items: 100-word drabbles, ficlets of various sizes (up to 1,664 words when [info]femmequixotic couldn't stop Dracoing), and one drawing.

Something for everyone's tastes, definitely! Come over and browse! *offers biscuits*

Now the cats are sleeping it off, and I'm curious: participants and passers-by, did you have a good time? Which prompts were you hoping to get? And which prompts were you totally scared of getting? Snape/Squid? (done! by [info]_lore) Do tell. :)

Anyone else notice lots of Neville? And lots of Luna, too. Lots of Snape, as usual! And three prompts with Snorkacks. And a fair bit of McGonagall, Draco, Hermione, Lupin, Tonks, and Weasleys. Not so much of the next-gen characters.

I think I might compile a ship-count. Don't have time to count characters too. Any volunteers to scroll through six pages of comments and count the Neville-related drabbles? (Or Luna, or Snape.)

Yay! Thanks for doing this again. [info]_hannelore and I are currently sitting here eating ice cream and talking about how you're our favorite person in fandom. <3 <3 <3

Aww, thank you! *blushes geekily* And you're certainly among the people I'd like to thank for plugging and encouraging.

Now that all those links are in place and I don't need to update anything else (I think), I'll be scrolling through and re-reading at leisure. Haven't reviewed nearly enough awesomeness yet.

Enjoy your ice-cream! *waves* :)

It was hugely fantastic - such a rush of adreneline and 'please-don't-give-me-Scorpius!'

You were scared of getting Scorpius/Rose? Hee! *cracks up* Well, there's always next year. *avoids hex* Maybe if you think of them as Harry/Ron in disguise...?

Hurrah! This is one of my favorite HP events, and I love you (and the cats) for organizing it again.

Also...I'm just at work (*g*), so I can do a character count! (even though I'm not done leaving comments)

If you'd kindly count the Snape, that would be just lovely. Off the top of your head, what's your guess? 20% Snape?

The cats and I agree that the Drabblethon is TOTAL CATNIP, OMG. :D

I was sad that I missed the sign-ups for the Drabblethon (stupid airplanes), so I was happy to see a few prompts left over, including the one that grabbed me *g* Thanks for hosting it again this year!

It was great to see so many writers I thought had moved on from HP come back for this! It definitely had an "old-school" feel for me as a reader -- lots of Snape and some ships I haven't seen much of for a few years. Or maybe it's just 'cuz I've been messing about in next-gen lately and there was almost none of those characters here! At any rate, I enjoyed it very much. :)

I've had a few people comment that they "came out of retirement" for this, or they haven't been writing at all for a while. - "we all set to party like it's circa 2005," said [info]pauraque. But there were definitely some new faces around - people who have taken up HP since the last Drabblethon in April 2007, pre-DH.

I was thinking there might be more of the next-gen. Not so much. Plenty of rare-pairs, though! Probably the first ever Albus/Gellert/Luna, and the first Neville/Dumbledore with top!Neville. Egad, Neville got plenty of action this weekend. :D

Thanks for doing this -- it was a blast. I was quite happy with my Poppy prompt, since teacher-fic is my favorite. Harry/Draco and the next gen, not so much. But hell, for a drabble, truly, I'll write anything. That sideboard one looked fun. . .

*nods* Good to hear that! :)

The Drabblethon attracts those who'll read/write anything. I really love watching the prompts come in on the poll! Ending up with huge list of diversity. Much fun!

Definitely catnip. More?

I decided not to be scared of any of the prompts, which was good, as Luna/Albus/Gellert was definitely one of the crackier prompts. Ended up being lots of fun to write, though. Although, I don't know *what* I would have done with the squid/snape one...

Lots of Neville, and I was happy to contribute to the general Luna-ness as well.

Can't wait to do this again next year :)

I missed it too! And the cats just meowed for drabbles, quite pathetically.

Mmm, yes - good to see Neville getting some attention. Still the favorite Gryffindor.

And next year, I'm going to write something longer than Femme, dammit! :-P

Thanks so much for doing it again! It's one of my very favorite things about HP fandom, and I'm still kicking myself for being such a chicken shit back in 2005 and 2006. ♥

The prompts I didn't want - anything with characters I honestly couldn't remember... XD

The prompt I wanted the most - the one with Voldemort doing the laundry, actually XD It just seemed so incredibly silly. Or the one with Snape wanting a pet. The crack ones really appealed to me. I think I did pretty well with the one I got though.

Always enjoyable, always looked forward to, thanks for hosting once again. The Sorting Cat is always very kind to me - which is most appreciated! :-)

(I was scared of a prompt where I was not sure of the term used. Just in case I drew it, I tried to research it in advance but came across multiple conflicting definitions. Thankfully, the Sorting Cat gave me something I could cope with instead. *is grateful* )

This was so much fun! I am thrilled that bethbethbeth pointed me in this direction.

I was afraid of the Snape/Lupin/Hagrid prompt, and several of the others. I am always a happy fangurl when I get a prompt that I can twist to SS/HG, though, and I did, so that was great fun.

I'll be watching for this next year!

I decided the best policy was not to look at the prompts at all before the Sorting! Otherwise I would have fretted constantly about how to avoid sexing up Neville. *shudders*

As ever, thanks for hosting.
