Cat's Birthday HP Drabblethon 5: the sign-up post
The big black cat just threw up a hairball. Must be time to get things rolling.

Welcome to the fifth Cat's Birthday HP Drabblethon!

It's an exchange. It's HP-only. It's eclectic. It all happens in one weekend - starting NOW.
And it usually happens in April, but better in July than not at all, right? FYI, the cats (who can't read calendars) are 10 years old (Bestia the Sorting Cat) and five years old (Imperio).

How this works: Think of a prompt for somebody else, and the Sorting Cat will give you somebody else's prompt in exchange.

ETA: Poll closed! It's past 6 p.m. British time, so the Drabblethon has stopped accepting prompts now. The Sorting Cat is doing her thing. Assignments will be posted at midnight British time.

The prompt-collecting poll is over here. Go add your prompt!
If you make a mistake or change your mind, you can edit your answer by clicking this link again and re-submitting.

By throwing a prompt into that poll, you're signing up for this 'thon. That means a commitment to write 100 words (at least), this weekend, on whatever prompt the Sorting Cat throws at you. Fair warning: the prompts get very diverse, and you could end up with anything. Blame the Cat.

Go read Cat's Birthday Drabblethons 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 to see how eclectic this gets. "Anything" means gen, slash, het, crack, angst, fluff, smut, humor - any genre, character, pairing, whatever. The only restriction: no crossovers - must be HP.

Sign-up poll posted at 6 p.m. British time on July 24, open for 24 hours. (ETA: Time's up! Poll closed!) At 6 p.m. on July 25 the poll will shut down and the Sorting Cat will use her Paw of Doom on your prompts.

Six hours later, at midnight on July 25/26, I'll post the list of who's writing what. You'll have 24 hours to produce your drabble and post it as a comment there: until midnight strikes on July 26/27. Any prompts still unwritten at that point will become available as an open challenge for anyone.

We're using the Hogwarts timezone - British time. [What time is it over there now?]

By contributing a prompt for somebody else to drabble on, you're also solemnly swearing to write 100 words yourself on a prompt contributed by somebody else. Word limit not strictly enforced - okay to write more. Fan-artists may draw instead of writing - you decide what the art equivalent of a drabble is.

Have fun! :D

*waves* Aww, that's too bad. Thanks for dropping in to say hello, anyway - and I hope you'll come and read the drabbles once you're back from holiday.

Unfortunately, I'll have to search for them. They'll be two weeks out of date by the time I get back, so the post will have dropped off my flist reading page by then! (Unless I manage to get to the Only Internet Cafe in Swansea for a couple of hours...)

Oh well. Happy Purrrthdays to the cats, anyway!

Yeees. My HP muse was needing a good leg-stretch after getting poked by HP6. *rubs hands in anticipatory glee*

Glad to hear that! I was hoping people would be in a mood for HP, what with Azkatraz and the movie and all. :)

Have fun!

Hi there! I arrived here via [info]bethbethbeth's link to your drabbleathon, and it sounds great fun; I'd love to play :-)

I've added you to my f'list in the process (I hope that's ok), and it seems we have a couple of favourite characters in common: Snape and Dumbledore, either seperately or together ;-)

Welcome to the Cat's Birthday Drabblethon, and to this journal. :) Hope you have a pleasant drabbling experience.

And I think I'll link you to the only time I ever wrote Snape/Dumbledore. Hee.

Thanks very much - and yes, the drabbling was great fun! :-)

Your Snape/Dumbledore is hilarious - I daresay the Death Eaters were rather surprised...!

Similarly, I have only ever written one Snape/Dumbledore, but it's fairly long.. It's here, if you're interested :-)

I offered a prompt. How will I be notified? Who do I have to watch to get a message (since I am horrid about watching my flist)?

Welcome to the Cat's Birthday Drabblethon. Nice prompt! :)

No individual notifying. Just watch this journal, this weekend. The list of Who's Writing What For Whom will be posted at midnight on July 25/26, British time. Then you'll have 24 hours to write your drabble and add it as a comment on that post.

Okay... I'm working 11 hours tomorrow (or rather today) and Sunday, but hey, I can scrabble together 100 words in the few hours I have off.

Due midnight British Time on the 26th? That means 10pm my time on Sunday. Okay... so as long as I have the prompt by the time I'm off at work 1030pm my time Sat night, I can have it in before I head to work at 1130am Sunday. If it sucks, I blame [info]joanwilder!

Thank you... I'd say it was 100% mine, but the bratlet and I were having a talk about the room of requirement earlier and it's roll in the last couple of movies.

Yay! :) Thanks for throwing in a Dumbledore's sister prompt, too - for our first Drabblethon since Deathly Hallows. (There aren't nearly as many Epilogue Characters among the prompts as I thought there might be.)

Oh, damn! I got too caught up RPing and didn't read my flist 'til just now. D: D: D:

Oh well, I'll guess there'll be fun reading anyway :).

Throw me a prompt if there are any leftovers? Okay so now I've read the entire post properly I see I can still play later on.

Gah I am so mad with myself though, especially because I see I am only forty minutes late.
