Pet Peeves Icons (no, not the poltergeist)
The results of my pizza-and-icons session, in case anyone wants them. Tiny little GIFs, mostly harmless - suitable for random venting, polite hints, or New Year resolutions.

Total of 30 peeves: a few HP-specific, others all-purpose. If your pet peeve isn't here but you think it's iconable, shout. (Comments and credits are nice, but not mandatory.)

High-jacks sentiment and adds ...

YES!!! Absolutely.

I refuse to believe, for example (and I have many examples), that using 'then' 24 times when 'than' is meant (and not single than, at all) in an otherwise grammatically competent and well spelled, 10,000+ beta-read story can be put down to typer's error.

The phrase 'pet peeve' does not begin to express my annoyance regarding this problem.

Yours sincerely,
now even more than then,
A Disgruntled Reader

In some fics, "bare with me" is an accurate rendition of the request.

Loose/lose.... ARRRRGH. It bothers me less in fanfic than in stuff the writer (and presumably editor!) got paid for.

Great icons!

The one I keep encountering is peak misused in place of pique - "it peaked her interest," and so on.

But 'could care less' is nonsense. You can say it, but you have to say it with a sarcastic tone of voice, almost always absent in the fics where it's used. If you could care less about something, then you must care quite a lot about it.
