The Snape's Birthday HP Fandom Time-Capsule 2007
Yes, it's back! :D The Snape's Birthday Time-Capsule 2005 was posted on January 9, 2005 - hidden for a year - and unveiled on January 9, 2006.

Now let's give the fandom something to point and giggle at on January 9, 2008.

Comment here: share your predictions for the OotP movie, your definition of Deathly Hallows, your forecast/wishlist for the fandom in general, your birthday greeting to Snape, some interesting links or recs, a cookie from your fic of the moment, random babble about whatever's on your mind right now, your New Year Resolutions, your word of the day, a pet peeve, a nice big fangirly squee, or the details of what you had for breakfast. (One or more of the above, or anything else you feel like saying. Go nuts.)

This post will be visible until January 9, 2007 is entirely over, even in Hawaii. Then it will be hidden for a year, and everyone is encouraged to forget all about it until Snape's next birthday.

I know that snape will probably die in book 7, but I know I'm still going to cry when if it happens.

Oh, and John Darnielle is the best poet alive today. Yes he is.

Amazing, but some of those predictions did really come true)))) (like DADA-Snape etc.) Cool.

Dear Prof. Snape,
I wish you all the best. And I wish you to be alive in the moment I'm writing this and in the years to come. Cheers!

Instead of ship wank, we shall have Snape wank in major proportions! If Snape dies, the world as we know it fandom will explode. Snapefen will be the new Harmonians, moaning, screaming, and cursing JKR for killing off the best character in canon. F_W and the rest of the HP fen will have the most entertaining time watching the aforesaid Snapocalypse!

I ate a lot of cheese today. That is all.

OotP movie:
*From the previews, I'd say it's a Snape-fan's dream, and he will be portrayed sympathetically and heroically in Occlumency scenes, with Harry just being a brat about it.
*The director will choose to tip the R/T hat early, just because, hey, everyone knows it now.
*Either that, or each will have one line in the entire movie, and be mostly forgotten.
*They will ride broomsticks rather than thestrals to London, and, lo, the wank will be epic.

Deathly Hallows=the Horcruxes or their resting places.

Deathly Hallows will be released this year, and we'll all get used to the title, but it's still not a great one.

No matter what Snape does or doesn't do in DH, people will scream bloody murder.

Harry won't die, causing great consternation.

The film will be good, but have some bits the fans don't much like.

Many fans will feel that book 7 is a really big let-down and JKR will fail to explain some major plot point.

There will be kerfuffles, some of which will make fandom_wank, (who will make fools of themselves and others).

I will not get any thinner.

OoTp will suck, just as all other movies based on substandard books suck. It'll be all about Harry, and contain nothing of the interesting characters - Dumbledore, Bellatrix, Snape, Sirius.

Sev's cannon fodder in DH, poor guy.

As for my fangirlishness? Thanks, Severus, for being one of the best characters in a series of books I really couldn't be arsed about without you and the other adults. When does the Minerva series come out? That's what I want to read.

Too bad neither Borders nor Reiter's Scientific and Technical has a potion making section, else I'd have gotten Snape a gift certificate. But that's ok - instead, I made a donation in his name to the "People With Sparkly White Underwear Rescue and Support Fund."

Unfortunately, as far as the 7th book is concerned, I think Snape is probably pretty screwed. I predict that he will end up dead and unredeemed, much like a coupon for buy-one-get-one-free enemas.

I also predict that Deathly Hallows will be relevant to the location of the final horcrux and therefore the final showdown between Voldie and Harry. I'm still leaning toward Four Founders corpses as an integral part of the plot.

I think DH isn't coming this year so our Snape has at least one more birthday before he most probably bites it. Deathly Hallows will be the founders's relics. The book will end with One Big Happy Weasley Family (minus at least one weasley) and because of this I will spork my eyes out.

OoTP will make me weep with all the cuts they'll have to make.
Happy Birthday, Severus.

OotP:

- No Thestrals or at least only as a glimpse => whining, wobbles, and wank
- Several persons including, but not limited to [info]maeglinyedi and [info]mctabby will wallow in the Voldemort and bemoan the fact that he has too little time, dammit
- Several persons including, but not limited to [info]gmth and [info]amanuensis1 will revel in the Lucius and bemoan the fact that he has too little time, dammit
- Several persons including, but not limited to [info]snapetoy and myself will revel in the Snape and bemoan the fact that he has too little time, dammit
- The Death Eater costumes will once again be met with criticism
- Dumbledore will be impressive in the end but everyone will be too busy drooling over Voldemort and/or Harry to notice
- Sirius' death will once again upset the fandom
- Tonks will either be left out or made a joke
- Draco will be a brat in the un-sexy way and lose fangirls
- McGonagall will be awesome
- The actress who plays Umbridge will despite my first reactions turn out to be a good choice
- The scar on Harry's hand will cause wank like whoa

DH:
- The hallows are the something belonging to the Founders
- Snape is really Dumbledore's man and proves this by dying for Harry. Should this happen, you will all be able to hear my defiant screams OR Snape is redeemed and lives to cause Harry much guilt because he didn't trust him (even after he killed Dumbledore)
- Ron or Harry will die
- Please, please, please let Hagrid and his brother die. Violently. Not Fang, though. It's a children's book
- Luna will get a bigger role and it will be revealed why she sees Thestrals
- One of the twins will die
- Harry will be caught by the Death Eaters and the rest of the book will be ghost written by [info]nimori
- One or all of these things will cause wank
- Like Sirius, everyone will return in fandom
- Neville will get or be gotten by Bellatrix
- Something with a Pensieve
- Harry will get even with the Dursleys either by flaunting his money or Voldemort killing them
- Moody dies
- Draco is redeemed. Narcissa dies for him
- Jo will never cease getting mails going 'but why are all the HP gone?! You forgot to bring NN back from the dead!'
- Despite canon being ended, fandom will endure

On a personal note I'm working on Harry/Snape (one funny/angsty Christmas fic consisting of 24 chapters and one crack with Voldemort as a hamster) and a gen slice n' dice with one killer and a lot of victims. Yes, Hagrid will die in that one.

Oh please let Luna's line about Nargles be in the movie! And Hermione's immortal Ron/Teaspoon line.

The movie's Veil of Doom will look nothing like any of us imagined, and the fandom will yowl indignantly.

Or the movie might decide to get creative and let Tonks fall through the Veil instead. (Bellatrix: "Eh, blood traitor cousin or blood traitor niece - same difference...")

I woke up with a small tabby on my chest today, and had coffee for breakfast, and right now I'm trying to think up some prompts for [info]riddle_gifts.

In Riddlefics 2007: Tom-Voldemort/Harry will remain the most popular pairing, followed by Tom-Voldemort/Hermione. Tom/Ginny will continue to decline, while Tom/Minerva continues to grow and Tom-Voldemort/Snape remains tragically rare - though not as rare as Voldemort/Regulus or Tom/Hepzibah. Tom-Voldemort/Sirius will experience an inexplicable surge in popularity. Tom-Voldemort/Luna will continue lurking quietly in the background, steadily gaining admirers. Tom-Voldemort/Lupin and Tom-Voldemort/Ron will keep producing about one fic per year. Somebody will finally write the HBP-compliant novel-length Riddle biography to match the pre-HBP fanon classics, The Broken Victory and I Am Lord Voldemort.

And I predict a Cat's Birthday Drabblethon in April. :)

I love this...did it last time. Ok, here goes:

-I hope we have book 7 by this time next year.
-I predict Harry will go through the veil with Voldie in tow, can Harry be the first to come back?
-Snape won't survive book 7; he will be found to be desperately in lust love w/ Lily until his untimely demise (much to Harry's disgust). He will be shown, irrefutably, to be loyal to Dumbledore and the Order (again to Harry's disgust). Harry may even be the instrument (wittingly or not) of Snape's death.

That will do for today. Happy Birthday Severus!!!!

OotP:
- The film will barely graze over my favorite parts of this book, which concern the office culture of the Ministry.
- The adults will not get nearly the time they need for exposition of the Order and its history.
- Hermione will become even more girly and glamorous than in the last film, and will wear as much pink as Umbridge.
- Umbridge will be wonderful, regardless, because she is so awful. I can't wait to see her and McGonagall playing off each other.

DH:
- Snape is underground, and will not appear until the climax of the story.
- Fawkes will have An Important Message for Harry, but its meaning is hard to decipher. Trelawney may actually help out here.
- Ginny will turn up preggers, but Madame Pomfrey will quietly help her out of her difficulty.
- Neville will have a surprisingly crucial role in the final showdown.

Snape/Lily will be the huge all consuming wank topic after book 7. (And it's time too. Who cares about Harry's love life and Sirius' funeral)

Petunia and Snape know each other!

People will complain about the redemption of Snape/Draco/Wormtail/whoever loudly. (Personally I will complain about Wormtail, if she goes there.)

Snape will survive. Ha, I said it. So Happy 49th(?) Birthday, Sev.

Ron and Hermione may marry or get engaged during the book, I guess.

OotP:
Harry/Luna shippers will love it. Fiennes!Voldemort fans will love it. The Snape/Lily wars will probably start, due to the pensieve scene being more suggestive than in the book.

None of my 2005 predictions came true even remotely, so I don't hold out high hopes, but...

OotP movie:
--Umbridge won't be nearly evil enough, but the film will go ahead and gloss over Hermione leaving her to be killed/raped by the centaurs anyway
--the pensieve scene will be utterly Snape/Lily ish and I will make gagging noises throughout it, driving my fellow watchers insane

DH:
--hallows = horcruxes
--we'll see some inferi
--Snape/Lily confirmed and I'll throw the book across the room
--Tonks/Remus will turn out to be snuggly fluff love and I'll throw the book again
--Neville kills Bellatrix
--Snape will die saving Harry's life because he was really Dumbledore's man all along and my book will be REALLY dented from its third thrip to the floor
--so much wank. Snapewank especially.
--OBHWF ending

Boy, I sure think JKR is terribly predictable, don't I? I REALLY hope she surprises me, even in one way. I'd be happy with a) Snape is evil, b) Ron and Hermione break up for real, c) Harry dies, or d) something really complicated that I didn't see coming like Dumbledore had Voldemort under imperius and made him kill all these people so that he (DD) would be able to be this great figure for the light, except that Snape worked it out in the end and that's why he killed him...

I don't see (d) happening, though, so my only hope is for evil!Snape. It's just SO obvious that he's Dumbledore's man, thematically. It bores me. I want Harry to kill him and be justified.

Tra la! Happy Birthday, Snape! I do so hope you're evil.

OotP will have a lot less Snape than all his fans expect, because that is just the way things go in the films ;P. The movies will continue to be totally off and not make any sense, and the seven parts will never tie together because the plots were messed up in the first few *g*.

***

Deathly Hallows will be a terrible disappointment to me in any case, because after three years as a fanficcer I am so convinced of my own view on Snape, his actions and his future that I won't accept any other version of events XD. (I know it's unreasonable, but I can't help myself.) Snape will probably be revealed as having had a huge crush on Lily Evans and you will hear my groans across the Atlantic. I will mope on LJ and write academic essays about exactly why the turn of affairs doesn't make sense.

Snape will likely die. I will grieve him, even though I will be embarrassed about it. I will leave fandom, just because Snape's story will have been told and he will no longer require me.

If Snape survives the saga, everybody around me will be puzzled at my manic grin, utter elation and amazing cheerfulness for an extended period of time ;).

Happy birthday, slime. Sirius is saying "I told you so" right now, and whether or not "Hallows" has anything to do with the Veil, the rest of the fandom will hear him soon enough.

The OotP movie will actually be awesomesox, because face it, it's the one that can most afford to be condensed to two-and-a-half hours. Besides, the new actors are incredible (and Gary Oldman is so redefined that he counts as new here.)

I'm not partisan when it comes to the Deathly Hallows, as all possible definitions are wicked, but my mind is most playing with "hallow" as in yell-for-aid for some reason.

Predictions:

Snape heard the whole prophecy and arranged with Dumbledore to give Voldemort only a fragment. He was pure mercenary drow up until the Vow, and I have no idea how his continuing tie to Draco might affect him, but any way that leads, he's scum and there was certainly no Lightning-Tower Pact.

Hagrid will try to go after Snape and die in the attempt.

All the usual locket theories (i.e. Regulus didn't destroy it and Dung sold it on the black market.)

Kreacher left Hogwarts when Harry told him to "get out of it", and is wreaking havoc as we speak.

Nagini is not a Horcrux, and neither is Harry.

Horcruxes can be made years after the requisite murder.

The school governors, consummate cowards that they are, will certainly close the school, and possibly even turn it over to Voldemort.

(So if you're filthy (filthy), smelly (smelly), evil, wicked and cruel...)

Hopes:

Harry is as cool as he was in HBP.

Because of the whole Regulus thing, we get a whole ton of Black family backstory, up to and including the exact circumstances of Alphard's will and why his vault is high-security.

Neville is even cooler and more present than he was in OotP.

Draco redemption. I never thought I'd be hearing myself say that.

Shipping is low-key.

McGonagall puts flowers on her desk (Paolini-inspired metaphor, so eat me). Or maybe make that Moody puts Dark Detectors on his desk, so we learn the value of trust without Dumbledore being a total idiot.

A scene analogous to the sword-throwing scene in Braveheart (though hopefully towards the beginning, not the end). Actually, the whole bit with going into the arena, head held high, was emotionally close enough.

If Voldemort does take over the castle (which would make for some very cool possibilites), the portraits aren't so honor-bound as all that.

'S all.

OotP movie:
The Crucio attempt, the Quidditch pitch fight, the SNEAK hex, Montague being pushed into the cabinet, and the leading to the centaurs will all be softened up.
Daniel Radcliffe's acting will continue to be wooden.
Ginny will continue to be nicer than her canon counterpart.
The Dursleys will become unlikely sex objects, thanks to Dudley's pimp chain and Petunia's saucy sunflower dress.
I will throw several hissyfits if Draco's 'Dad' line is cut out.

Well, no matter what happens it will lead to wank of massive proportions because, well, it would be a terrible film if it didn't.

There will be long, pointless scenes of flying or something equally as mind-numbing to show off all the special effect because that department of wb is like a child with a new toy...except they never tire of it. It's like 'lookit, we can do swirly', 'lookit, we can make thestrals', 'lookit, we can dye someone's hair an unconvincing shade of pink'...

Obviously, it's going to be major canon-rape...as, possibly, sirius would barely feature in it at all...and maybe not even die, which will therefore make all puppyshippers sighing, happy people once again screaming about canon...i'd like to see how wb were going to manage the film with him, though...he's basically the plotpoint...

Book
Death-fest.
Really, I think that will be the only way to describe it. Snape shall die saving Harry, in a way that will make evryone groan and go 'well, that was fucking obvious...why have we wasted seven years?'...and will make me and the assorted fangirls of snape and all of his ships burst into tears and vow never to return (which may or may not be true, depending on wheher fandom 'goes boom!').

Harry will not stay saved for long. He will die...possibly saving the world. The last line will be something about his scar disappearing or, possibly, there will be a new chosen one! Hey, that just came to me, I hope it's not true. Ginny will die first, of course, leaving Harry heartbroken and Ron, Ron will die. Hermione will be all distraught and so won't help Harry and Harry will act like an idiot and die...

Not sure about our darling Tom...he might live...not sure...it would be good if he did...a more realistic tale...but he'll probably die, just so there can be a whole 'good triumphs over evil' vibe *sighs*

Random of the moment

Well, I spent today pretty much saying this aloud in the kitchen. We discussed our first fics, the works and journals of you (mctabby) and amanuensis and whether or not voldemort/harry is canon...and how much of book six was pure porn...

I also found time to ship innanimate object...the brutal tale of the two poles...Max and Bob...they work in the gay pole dancing bar down the road...Max used to be straight, but then the dustbin broke his heart, so now he and his half-brother Bob must share a secret, incestous love...enough to make anyone weep.

Also, tonight, I'm writing 'a kink which has never been thought of before' as thought of by an aquaintance of mine on a late-night plane-ride home...it's going to be voldermort/harry as well :)

OotP film:

I will watch it, riveted and come back convinced I've had a wonderful time. Then I will log on to LJ and realise that everyone hates it and I am as such branded as SHALLOW. (It gets me that way every time).

Helena Bonham Carter will be better than I expected, but still not a worthy Bellatrix.

My greatest fear is that Luna will not be done right.

Deathly Hallows:

Harry will live - and most of the people who matter to him will live too.

Grawp will save the day - he was kept out of Book 6 because he was being prepped for a Higher Purpose.
