7:05a - updating Riddlefic links
Time to check all the links at the Riddlefics list again! I've started with the Tom/Harry section this time. Here's the current state of it.
( A whole bunch of links to Tom/Harry and Voldemort/Harry fics... )
Riddlefics links are here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Riddlefics/links You don't have to join the list to see the links pages, but you do need access to the adult section of YahooGroups.
Hmm. The Ink archive seems to have vanished - that was the crackerbox.nu/ink Riddle archive started in mid-2002. But the Dystopia archive is alive and well and being updated; it's for Riddle and Voldemort fics of any pairing, genre, or rating. Run by s8219.

6:54p - Mmm, Dark Lord slash.
Ashes to Ashes by secret_weapon [borderline R/NC-17] HP/LV, DM/RW. Complete, around 25,000 words. Posted as one file here, and in chapters there.
It's the day of the Big Battle against Voldemort. Harry is 19 and an Auror. The Malfoys have changed sides to work with the Order, though Lucius still annoys almost everybody (and Draco and Ron don't dare let their fathers find out they're shagging). Anyway, it's time for the showdown - and Harry is desperate enough to use an illegal Dark spell, supplied by Lucius, to finish off Voldemort. The spell works - but not quite as expected...
I was really entertained by this story. For one thing, I've been hoping to see a post-OotP fic that explores the smut potential of all that telepathic stuff between Harry and Voldemort, and this fic goes there. Another thing that struck me: while a lot of HP/LV and HP/TR fics focus on the two main characters to the exclusion of all others, this story involves more people - Draco, Ron, Hermione, Lucius/Narcissa, Snape, Tonks. Besides, scattered throughout the serious/sad/dramatic parts of the story are bits that make me giggle - like Snape and Hermione snarking at each other, or the way Lucius insists on saying Nymphadora and Tonks retaliates by calling him Uncle Louis, or Ron's priceless "Aaawk!" moment. *cough*
And it's all first-person POV, yay. :D Draco's POV before and during the battle; then Hermione's POV for the post-battle kerfuffle; and then Harry's POV for the fascinating backstory. Using a sequence of first-person narrators can be a powerful technique, with their distinctive voices and often-contradictory perspectives (this fandom's quintessential example of that has to be Giving Notice by dontgiveahoot). I like the contrast between Draco and Hermione here.
Finally, though I think the author's decision to end the story where she does is perfectly valid - and lets readers' imaginations run wild - I'm still terribly, evilly glad to see some hints in her LJ about a sequel. Bring it on.
